250 353-7336 (Home) email: wellthom@telus.net Bill Wells undertook formal education in Geology and Soil Science (Earlham College, Indiana, USA, 1964) and subsequent field training in soils mapping and terrain classification. Bill became a Professional Agrologist in 1985. With his wife M.L. Thomson he worked in CUSO placements in the South Pacific that involved agricultural research and applications, and forest management. Through the late ‘80’s and ‘90’s, Bill and M.L. developed an organic farm and together they ran an apple orchard & fresh pressed juice business that was one of the first to be certified in B.C.; this carried on until 2002, when they moved to Kaslo. Since the early 1990s Bill was involved with terrain stability issues and worked on numerous stability assessments and mapping projects in Southeast BC for industrial and governmental clients. He served the Kootenay-Boundary Branch as counselor at different times. On Council's behalf Bill participated in the initial Joint Professional Practices deliberations on standards between the professional organizations of engineers & geoscientists, foresters and agrologists. He also served as the K-B Branch AAg Coordinator until November, 2007. Bill is currently registered as PAg Retired, but continues with participation in activities related to his professional interests. (January, 2009) |
