Transcripts - Domestic and International

Mail transcripts directly by the post-secondary institution, sealed official transcripts of credential(s), and transfer credits.

A PDF or electronic version of official transcripts provided directly by the educational institution will also be accepted; email the Deputy Registrar.

Applicants with Degrees Awarded Outside of Canada

  • Transcripts must be evaluated by a third party company such as International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES) in Burnaby. Note that World Evaluation Service (WES) and International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) reports are also accepted.
  • Ask for the comprehensive assessment, as required by the BC Institute of Agrologists; this provides the breakdown of equivalent credits and determines if the educational program is comparable to an educational program in Canada/BC. At a minimum the Bachelor's degree must be evaluated if an applicant has multiple credentials.
  • When a third party report is included with the application, copies of transcripts are accepted.

Term Reduction Request

Applicants with extensive accumulative work experience (6 to 14 years) in agrology after graduation* (not including a Master's or Ph.D. program) may request a reduction by including a cover letter with reasons to support the request for the articling term to be reduced from two years to one year.

Include letter(s) of employment for verification. This request can only be done at the time of application. Ultimately it is at the discretion of the Credentials Committee to grant this request. All Articling Program elements must still be completed but just in a shorter time frame.

*Effective Diploma graduation

Do you have an accumulation of 15+ years of work experience in agrology after graduation (not including a Master's or Ph.D. program)? Apply under the Expedited Admission Program

A Registrant is allowed to self-declare in as many areas as the Registrant is qualified for and competent in.

PAg applicants are required to declare their Practice Area(s) at the time of application submission.

  • If, in the future, a Registrant wishes to change their scope(s) of practice based on new skills/knowledge learned, they may do so by declaring them during the annual fee renewal time in the Registrant's PD Reports.

TAg applicants are required to declare their Practice Area(s) at the time of application submission. Upon acceptance into BCIA, the Credentials Committee will ensure that the declared Practice Area(s) are in line with the Registrant's education, training, and experience.

  • If in the future a Registrant wishes to change their scope(s) of practice, they must provide for the Registrar's consideration a reference letter from a registered professional with direct knowledge of the Registrant's employment and experience, affirming the competency of the Registrant in the new Practice Area(s).

LLAg applicants are required to indicate their intended Practice Area at the time of application submission. Upon acceptance in BCIA, the Credentials Committee will assign the Practice Area and state the restriction in the regional area of the province related to the Practice Area based on the Registrant's training and experience.
