Unearth the world of cover crops in our engaging three-part webinar series with Mike Witt, PAg, where we'll journey from the surface to below ground, exploring their diverse definitions, applications, and advantages.

This is a three-part webinar series.

March 26 - Part 1: Immerse yourself in the foundational understanding of cover crops, delving into their role in soil health, regenerative agriculture, erosion control, forage production, and biofumigation.

March 27 - Part 2: We'll dig deeper, spotlighting specific cover crop species tailored to various crop systems, from large to small scale, and across different regions within British Columbia. Navigate through the intricacies of their management, addressing concerns when incorporated into crop rotations and utilized as forage. We'll explore an array of annuals, including grasses, legumes, brassicas, and other forbs.

March 28 - Part 3: Our exploration continues with a focus on winter annuals, biennials, and short-lived perennials, unveiling their unique benefits and considerations. Gain valuable insights into forage use, with a spotlight on the ACS: Living Lab Forage and Beef projects. Join us for this comprehensive journey through cover crops, where we'll unearth their potential both above and below the surface, offering practical knowledge for various agricultural landscapes and practices.

Meet your Instructor, Mike Witt, PAg.

Mike's extensive education and hands-on experience establish him as a seasoned authority in Cover Cropping. His primary focus has been on cover cropping and nitrogen management within the livestock sector, with a specialization in both beef and dairy farming. Currently serving as an Agrologist for BC Living Labs, administered by IAF, Mike actively contributes to the Forage/Beef and Dairy sectors.

In addition to his role as an Agrologist, Mike engages in professional consulting and advisory services. What sets him apart is his ability to not only offer expertise in theory but also apply these practices on his own farm operation. This dual perspective enriches his insights, ensuring that the knowledge he imparts is not just theoretical but deeply rooted in practical, on-the-ground implementation.
