The 2024 Kootenay Boundary Branch AGM is booked for October 22nd, at Ground Floor Coworking Space 7 Avenue South 131 Unit 100 Cranbrook V1C 2J3. This is a hybrid event with in-person and virtual attendance options. We encourage attendees to attend in-person for the benefit of increased networking and community building.

After the AGM, please join us for lunch provided by Max’s Place Café. Lunch will include sandwiches, coffee, tea, and salad/ soup. Please include any dietary restrictions/ preferences in your registration. There will be no cost for lunch.
Please note that the venue can hold 25 people maximum, and registration will be first come first serve. If you register and find you cannot attend, please give enough notice so that someone else may attend.
Following the AGM, an online PD event will be hosted by Sophie Larsen from the Community Connections Society of Southeast BC “What’s the Deal with Food Security, Food Sovereignty, and the Food System?” You will need to register for this event separately HERE.

Nominations for Branch Executive: During the AGM, we will be turning-over a new leaf and inviting a new group of volunteers to help lead the Branch. If you or anyone you know would like to participate in the Kootenay Boundary Branch for the next term, please submit your nomination or self-nomination to Hanna McIntyre (Hanna.Mcintyre@gov.bc.ca). Deadline for Nominations for Executive positions is October 21st, 2024. Nominations should include the position of interest and a short bio/statement. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor during the AGM.

Being part of the Branch Executive is a great experience! You can learn about the business of the institute, help develop professional development activities that you are passionate about, add to your resume, and grow your professional network. Additionally, being part of the branch executive can be used for professional development hours. We encourage everyone that is interested in putting their names forward.

Branch Award Nominations: This year, the Kootenay Boundary Branch presents the Willow Tree and Green Shoot Awards. If you’d like to nominate someone for either award, please see additional information HERE
Motions: The Kootenay Boundary branch is canvassing in advance for any motions from the Branch members. All members must be in good standing to make a motion. Please contact Hanna McIntyre at hanna.mcintyre@gov.bc.ca if you would like to make a motion prior to the AGM.
Articling Registrants Needing To Do Their Presentation
All articling Registrants that need to complete their oral presentation at this year’s AGM, please forward your name to to Shawna LaRade at shawna.larade@gov.bc.ca by October 11th. . Your email should include a short presentation (1 slide) with a description of who you are, your area of interest/ practice, and your professional experience. You should ideally be in-person for this as the main purpose of this requirement is to introduce you to your branch, make connections and build community.
Please note: All those wishing to complete their oral presentation must pre-register with Shawna (and sign up when registering).
If you are an Articling Registrant that still needs to complete your "Ethics for Professionals" course, make sure you register for the in-person course taking place in the same location the day following the AGM on 23 Oct. This course is a requirement for articling registrants and those accepted under the expedited/LLAg admission programs. The current pricing for the Ethics series is $200 per course. However, fees will increase after February 2025 due to inflationary adjustments, so we encourage you to take advantage of the current rates. REGISTER HERE.
All newly elevated Registrants (new PAgs, TAgs and LLAgs) will be recognized for their achievements.
Please note that photographs and footage will be taken throughout the event. These will be used by BCIA for marketing and publicity in our publications, on our website, newsletters, and on social media. Should you not wish to have your photo taken and used for these purposes, please advise the photographer at the time.
