June is National Indigenous History Month — a time to honour and celebrate the history, culture, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada.

BCIA Okanagan invites you to join us for a special outdoor cultural experience hosted by Westbank First Nation’s Sncəwips Heritage Museum. This guided walking tour will take place entirely outdoors on the beautiful and storied syilx Okanagan territory — the unceded land where many of our members live, work, and play.

Led by a knowledgeable cultural guide, this engaging tour will explore the importance of community, traditional knowledge, and the enduring connection between the syilx people and the land. As a special highlight, if we’re lucky, our guide may share a traditional story inside the pit house — a unique opportunity to learn through oral tradition in an authentic setting.

Who Should Attend:

All BCIA registrants, guests, and those interested in deepening their understanding of Indigenous culture and history are welcome. This event is a meaningful opportunity to connect with the land and the stories of the people who have cared for it since time immemorial.

Space is limited — register now to reserve your spot!

Please note that photographs and footage will be taken throughout the event. These will be used by BCIA for marketing and publicity in our publications, on our website, newsletters, and on social media. Should you not wish to have your photo taken and used for these purposes, please advise the photographer at the time.

To register for this event, please login or create an account.
