Open to: All – BCIA Registrants and Public Welcome! (A BCIA account is required to register)
June is National Indigenous History Month — a time to honour and celebrate the rich history, heritage, resilience, and diversity of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada.
The BCIA Okanagan Branch invites you to join us for a special group tour of the Sncəwips Heritage Museum, hosted by Westbank First Nation. This engaging and educational experience offers an in-depth look at the syilx Okanagan people and their deep connection to the land we live and work on.
Located in the heart of syilx territory, the museum tour highlights traditional tools and dwellings, self-government, family and community structures, cultural practices, storytelling, and more. It's a unique opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the enduring strength, knowledge, and traditions of the syilx people — and a meaningful way to recognize Indigenous History Month as Agrologists and community members.
Who Should Attend:
All BCIA registrants and guests are welcome. This event is especially encouraged for those looking to expand their understanding of Indigenous history, strengthen relationships with local Nations, and enhance cultural awareness as part of their professional development.
Please note that photographs and footage will be taken throughout the event. These will be used by BCIA for marketing and publicity in our publications, on our website, newsletters, and on social media. Should you not wish to have your photo taken and used for these purposes, please advise the photographer at the time.
