Kirk Phair, PAg
Born and raised in small town Saskatchewan, Kirk spent his childhood operating an open-air tractor, chasing obstinate cattle, and riding his bicycle up and down the same 3 streets. While his roots are in agriculture, Kirk’s professional career has been in environmental protection. After earning a degree in toxicology from the University of Saskatchewan, Kirk consulted first in industrial waste management before shifting to contaminated sites. In the spring of 2017, Kirk joined BC’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy as an Environmental Protection Officer processing and administering waste discharge applications.
Kirk currently lives in Victoria with his wife, Erica, and their dog, Stubbs. Outside of work, Kirk is an avid volunteer. Prior to joining Council, Kirk served on the BCIA’s Professional Practice Committee from 2017 - 2019. In June 2022 Kirk was appointed as BCIA Treasurer. While the demands of the Board occupy most of his available volunteering time, Kirk has also served as the secretary of the local branch of the Air and Waste Management Association and as a member of the Land Use Committee for the Victoria West Community Association.
"As a Board Member, I am pleased to bring my experience in vision and goal setting, problem solving, relationship building and organizational leadership to the position." ~ Kirk Phair
